Short version: we collect the minimum we need to run AI Screencasts, we don’t sell your data, and we use third parties only where the job genuinely requires one. This page tells you exactly what that means.
What we collect
When you sign up, we collect your email address and whatever name you provide. That’s handled by our authentication provider, Clerk.
When you subscribe, our payment processor Stripe collects your billing information. We never see your full card details. We receive a Stripe customer ID and the subscription status.
When you watch a screencast, our video host Mux receives playback events from your browser (play, pause, quality changes) so the player works and so we can see aggregate viewership. We store your watch position and duration per episode so we can show you "Continue watching" next time.
When you use the contact form, we collect the name, email, subject, and message you type, so we can reply to you.
What we don’t collect
- No third-party advertising cookies. We don’t run ads.
- No analytics fingerprinting. We don’t load Google Analytics or similar.
- No tracking pixels in our emails. The activation email is plain HTML with no open tracking.
- No payment card numbers. Those live at Stripe, not on our servers.
Who we share it with
The only places your data is processed outside our own infrastructure:
- Clerk: authentication, session management, and storage of your subscription tier. Seeclerk.com/privacy.
- Stripe: billing, payment processing, invoices. Seestripe.com/privacy.
- Mux: video streaming and playback analytics. Seemux.com/privacy.
- Cloudflare: the infrastructure running this site and storing watch history. Seecloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
- Resend: email delivery - subscription confirmations, the Sunday digest, episode notifications, billing notices, and contact form responses. Seeresend.com/legal/privacy-policy.
- Umami Cloud: privacy-focused, cookie-less page analytics (page URLs, referrer, browser and country; IP addresses are not stored). Seeumami.is/privacy.
Each of these providers relies on its own subprocessors, and those lists change over time. The current list for each one lives in the policy linked above. We are notified in advance of any change and review it before it takes effect.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to anyone, for any reason.
Cookies
We set exactly the cookies required to keep you signed in and to honor an action you just took. No advertising cookies, no tracking pixels, no cross-site identifiers, no third-party analytics that profile you across the web.
The complete list:
- Clerk session cookies: keep you signed in across pages. Set by our authentication provider; required for any account-bound feature.
pending_newsletter_optin: a 15-minute cookie set by the sign-up page to remember your newsletter preference between the sign-up form and the email-confirmation step. Cleared on the first authenticated request or after 15 minutes, whichever comes first.muxData: set by the Mux video player on this site when you press play. It holds a random viewer id used for playback-quality analytics (rebuffering, startup time); it is first-party and not shared across sites.cookie_notice_seen: a 1-year cookie that records that you’ve seen the privacy banner so we don’t show it on every page. Stores the value1; nothing else.
